What should I use as a profile picture?

Modified on Thu, 23 Jul at 3:06 PM

Use a good-quality photo of just yourself, looking smart and friendly. Students are far more likely to contact a tutor once they can put a face to the name, and no profile goes live without a photo.

What makes a good profile picture

  • A clear photo of only you, no group shots.
  • Your face clearly visible so students recognise you at your first lesson.
  • A headshot rather than a full-body photo, as the thumbnail is small.
  • Unfiltered and unedited, including no black-and-white photos, so it reflects your professionalism.

What we can’t accept

  • Filtered pictures.
  • Pictures not in a 1:1 ratio.
  • Group pictures.
  • Badly cropped pictures that obscure your face.
  • Pictures with sunglasses.
  • Distant pictures.
  • Unprofessional pictures, such as those holding alcohol.
  • Low-quality or low-resolution pictures.

Recommended format

Aim for a square image (1:1 ratio), minimum 800 x 800 pixels.
