What committing to a slot means
Marking a slot as committed is a professional promise. Students expect any committed slot to go ahead. We hold tutors accountable: repeatedly cancelling or not showing up for committed slots hurts your visibility and status. Only commit to times when you’re 100% certain you can be ready to teach.
The best hours to be available
Our data shows clear demand windows:
- Weekdays: most enquiries are for lessons between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
- Weekends: over 90% of enquiries are for lessons starting between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Only 0.5% of booking requests fall between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM, so unless you’re specifically targeting those hours and can genuinely commit, keep them closed. Some students do want lessons outside peak windows, so include any slots you can commit to.
Does opening more slots get me more enquiries?
No. There’s no direct correlation between the number of free slots and the enquiries you receive. Opening slots you can’t realistically teach reduces your exposure over time. Students care more about profile quality than sheer availability, so your time is better spent optimising your profile.
