To become a tutor, you sign up, create a profile, and pass our review. This article covers the eligibility criteria and how we assess applications.

Who can become a tutor

To join, you must:

  • Have at least 2 years of formal tutoring experience.
  • Be over 18.
  • Live in the UK.
  • Have the right to work as self-employed in the UK.
  • Provide an Enhanced DBS check, PVG Scheme Record, or Enhanced Access NI check.
  • Provide at least two references.

How to create your profile

Click Become a Tutor in the banner at the top of the page. You’ll create your tutor profile to advertise your expertise. You’ll add a tagline, rate, profile photo, bio, qualifications, and subjects, plus a copy of your ID, proof of address, and at least two references. You can see how to complete your profile here.

How we assess your application

We accept or reject based on:

  • The standard of your profile: this is what prospective students see and it directly affects how many enquiries you get. We hold all profiles to a standard.
  • Your conduct with the Engagement Team: we expect all users to treat our team with respect, as it shows you’ll represent us well with students and staff.
