What is lesson credit?

Lesson Credit is a reward Tutorful gives students, for example for referring friends, through our Satisfaction Guarantee, or through marketing promotions. Students put it towards future lessons. If a student uses Lesson Credit on your lesson, you’re still paid in full. We never deduct Lesson Credit from your payment.

When Lesson Credit is used

Lesson Credit is automatically deducted from the next lesson a student pays for, up to the cost of that lesson. If their credit is less than the lesson cost, we charge the difference 24 hours after the lesson, as normal, using their payment details.

What you’ll be paid

If Lesson Credit covers the full lesson, you’re paid as usual. If it only covers part, the student pays the balance with their usual payment method, and your payment comes in two parts:

• The Lesson Credit portion is paid to you immediately.
• The remaining balance is paid through our standard schedule, within the usual 8 to 9 days after the lesson.

You still receive the full lesson payment; it’s just made up of two payouts.

If your student cancels

• If the student cancels more than 24 hours before the lesson, or you cancel as the tutor, the student isn’t charged, and no Lesson Credit is deducted.
• If the student cancels less than 24 hours before, the standard charge of 50% or 100% of the lesson cost applies (depending on whether you enforce a cancellation fee), charged directly to the student.

Can I give credit to my students?

No. Students can only receive Lesson Credit directly from Tutorful. If this is a feature you’d find useful, let us know.
