How do I offer a free video chat?

Modified on Wed, 26 Aug at 11:59 AM

Students can no longer request a free video chat from your profile, but you can still arrange one before teaching a new student. In most cases we recommend teaching the first booked lesson instead, as it keeps the process streamlined, and using messages to get to know the student first.

Who this applies to

You can book a free video chat only if you haven’t yet taught the student a paid lesson.

How to book a free video chat

  1. Open your messages with the student.
  2. Select Book in the top-right corner.
  3. Enter the agreed date and time.
  4. Select Book Chat.

The chat appears in your Upcoming Lessons, lasts around 15 minutes, and takes place in Tutorful’s online classroom.

If you’ve already received a lesson booking

You can still offer a free video chat, although we recommend teaching the booked lesson where possible.

To offer a free video chat, you must not have taught any paid lessons to the student. If you have not yet taught any lessons, please follow the steps above under “How to book a free video chat”.
