Tutorful Community Forum: getting started

Modified on Fri, 24 Jul at 4:21 PM

The Tutorful Community Forum is a space to share tips, find support, and meet other tutors. This guide covers creating an account, settings, navigation, posting, direct messages, and where to find the terms.

Creating an account

  1. Go to community.tutorful.co.uk and click Sign up.
  2. Enter your email, a username (your name or anonymous), and a password, then click Create your account.
  3. Confirm your email using the link we send (check your junk folder), and you’re ready.

Account settings

Click your initial in the top right and select Preferences. Here you can add a profile picture, update your username, change your email, reset your password, and set notification preferences from the left-hand options.

Categories and navigation

There are five categories, shown at the bottom of the page with a short description under each. Click a category to post. Use the Latest list on the right to jump into recent activity. The Tutorful logo or Home button returns you to the home page, and the magnifying glass in the top right searches topics, posts, users, or categories.

Posting and replying

The Community is split into categories; within a category you start a topic, and within a topic people reply.

  1. Check whether a similar topic already exists before starting a new one.
  2. Click into the relevant category and use the green New Topic button.
  3. Add an engaging title and your message.

To read a post, click into it. You can reply to start or add to a thread, and use the heart to like, the flag to report something inappropriate, the share button, or the bookmark to set a reminder.

Sending a direct message

Click someone’s name or picture on a post and select Message to start a private thread.

Terms and policies

Find the terms and policies via the About button in the secondary banner at the top.
