We know that sometimes your students may ask to take your lessons off the Tutorful site. While it can be tempting to do so, taking your students off the platform will have a negative impact on your repeat booking score and as a result, your ability to get future students through Tutorful. In addition, as accepting direct payments from students for lessons is a breach of our Terms & Conditions, this can result in the suspension or permanent block of your Tutorful account.

Our terms & conditions states the following:

"For any meetings (including lessons, trials or assessing student need) with a Student found via Tutorful's Website, Tutors must make a Booking to account for this time using the Website. Tutors agree not to solicit Students or disintermediate Tutorful, or attempt to solicit Students or disintermediate Tutorful, in any way, at the time of booking any Lesson with any Student, during any period of confirmed Bookings with any Student or at any time within six months of the date of the most recent Booking with the relevant Student (the "Tutor Restriction Period")."

We have pulled together some tips to help guide your conversation should your student ask.

Cost to the Community:

Staying on Tutorful helps to keep the educational costs down for a whole community of learners. When we venture off the platform, it makes it harder for Tutorful to offer affordable rates to everyone.

Pricing:

The rate I offer here on Tutorful is the same as I'd charge outside of it. Tutorful's done a lot to bring us together—like advertising and marketing—so the fee actually reflects a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Staying here helps keep these opportunities accessible for everyone.

Payment Security:

One of the reasons I like Tutorful is for the secure payment process. It gives both of us peace of mind, knowing that our financial information is safe.

Accountability:

If there's ever a misunderstanding or issue, it's comforting to know that Tutorful can act as a neutral third party to help us resolve it. Moving off the platform would make this sort of resolution much trickier for both of us.

Legal Implications:

We both agreed to Tutorful's terms when we joined, and one of those terms was to keep lessons on the platform. Breaking those terms could mean we're unable to use these valuable resources altogether.

Support and Resources:

Tutorful provides us both with so much more than just a platform for lessons. There's a whole team ready to support us and offers resources to make your learning experience as rich as possible. We'd miss out on that valuable support if we took our lessons elsewhere.

The Tutorful team would like to thank you for your ongoing collaboration with us.  We really value working with you and we're committed to supporting you in your teaching journey.

If you would like any further support for this or any other matter, please don't hesitate to contact the tutor team at support@tutorful.co.uk
