What subjects can I tutor through Tutorful?

Modified on Thu, 23 Jul at 3:09 PM

You can tutor a wide range of subjects, at any level from primary through A Level and beyond. The key rule: only choose subjects you have experience teaching and are confident in, backed by the right qualifications.

The qualification rule

Hold a qualification one level above the subject you want to teach. For example, to tutor GCSE Maths, we expect an A Level in Maths. Even if you’re studying a degree, you can’t teach at A Level until you’ve graduated.

We use this rule because students respond best to tutors who clearly meet it. Students also prefer focused profiles, so list only two subject groupings (for example Maths, English, Sciences, Languages, Humanities).

Entering your qualifications

Enter the subject studied, where you studied, and the grade. Add everything from GCSEs to PhDs; the more you provide, the better. Add extracurricular qualifications in the Other section.

If you don’t have a formal qualification one level above

If you have significant teaching experience in the subject instead, explain it in detail in your bio. The more information you give prospective students about your qualifications and experience, the better.
