Why do I have to authenticate payments?

Modified on Thu, 23 Jul at 3:12 PM

By law, all online payments must be authenticated with your bank before they’re processed. It adds a step, but we’ve made it simple.

How authentication works

  1. When you confirm a lesson with a new tutor, enter your payment details.
  2. Your bank sends a code by SMS, email, or banking app (each bank differs).
  3. Enter the code on the lesson confirmation page, and your lesson is set.

Future lessons with the same tutor are confirmed automatically, so you won’t re-enter details each time. We take payment 24 hours after each lesson and notify you.

Re-authentication

Your bank may occasionally ask you to re-authenticate when we take a payment, though not for every lesson. If so, we message you with a link to a checkout form. Complete it, and you’ll get a code from your bank to re-authenticate. We can’t control how often your bank asks.
