Tutorful's Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct sets the professional standards all tutors must follow while working with Tutorful. It exists to keep the learning environment safe, respectful, and effective for every student.

Professionalism and boundaries

  • Maintain professional boundaries: build friendly rapport, but keep the relationship focused on learning and development.
  • Adhere to ethical standards: conduct yourself professionally at all times, in sessions and in all communication with students and parents.
  • Confidentiality: safeguard sensitive information and respect the privacy of students and their families.
  • Conflict of interest: avoid situations where personal interests could conflict with professional duties.
  • Professional development: keep developing your skills and stay up to date with Tutorful’s policies.

Running your sessions

  • Lesson setup: before each session, test your connection, webcam, microphone, and any software. Teach in a quiet, private, well-lit room, and keep your camera on throughout.
  • Document sharing: make sure any materials you share comply with privacy and copyright laws.
  • In-session communication: keep communication clear, professional, and relevant to the tutoring. Use chat functions responsibly.
  • Feedback: give constructive feedback through the platform, keeping it specific, actionable, and supportive.
  • Time management: keep sessions within the scheduled time. Allow time for questions and recap key points.

Conduct and safeguarding

  • Personal conduct outside tutoring: maintain high standards of personal conduct, in public and online, that reflect well on you and Tutorful.
  • Safeguarding students: always act in students’ best interests, ensuring their safety and welfare.
  • Child and vulnerable adult protection: follow Tutorful’s safeguarding guidelines to prevent abuse and exploitation.
