As you have found yourself here, you must be looking to become a tutor with us. We look forward to receiving your profile submission but there are a few things you should know before you get started! This article will briefly take you through what we expect from our applicants and what we look for when deciding whether or not to accept you as a tutor as well as what our application process entails.
Your application will be either accepted or rejected based on a few different criteria. We will be reviewing your application based on:
The standard of your profile:
During the application process you will be asked to create your student facing tutor profile, in which you will be able to outline to students your previous tutoring experience and expertise, what subjects you can help with and the qualifications you have in regards to these. When reviewing your tutor profile these following sections are the most important parts of your profile:
Profile Picture: We look for you to have a professional quality profile picture in which you look smart and friendly - this is an important part of your profile page as it represents your professionalism, and it is first part of your profile that students will see. This is why we will get in touch if there is any issues with your profile picture and we need you to change this, and more information on what we expect from profile pictures and what we can't accept can be found here.
Bio: Your tutor bio is your space to let students know everything they need to know about you; your previous tutoring experience, how you will be able to help them and would run your lessons with them, any expertise you have with specific curriculums or exam boards and anything else you feel is relevant to the subjects you wish to offer, such as any hobbies you have which link up with these also. It is important that you include as much information within your bio as well so we also have a good understanding of your experience as well when reviewing your application, else we may have to ask you to make changes and add more information before we can review your application any further, and more information on what is best to include in your bio can be found here.
Subjects & Qualifications: When selecting the subjects you wish to offer to students on our platform we do expect you to select ones in which you have experience in tutoring previously, as can be seen from the information you provided within your bio, with them also linking up to the qualifications you have outlined within your profile also. We've found that students respond best to tutors who are specialists in their field and tutor in their specialist subjects, rather than tutors who claim to do everything and anything. Likewise, we do also ask that if you are teaching at degree level for any subjects that you limit these to the specific area that you have received undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in, as students at this level are looking for experts in their field rather than tutors who have completed one module in the topic.
Correct and clear information being provided:
Upon reviewing your application we will need to verify your ID, which involves us reviewing the ID information you have provided. So, it is important that you have provided us with a clear, colour copy of your photo ID, and proof of address document where needed, and that you have taken the time before applying to review the types of documentation we can accept, as providing us with unclear copies of your ID, or forms of ID and proof of address we can't accept, will delay the application process for you, as we do need to be able to verify your ID before being able to fully review your application.
More information on how to upload your ID documents to your account can be found here, and more information on what we can accept as proof of address documents can be found here.
After you have completed your tutor account fully and have submitted this to us, we will be automatically prompted to review this and will be back in touch to let you know of the next steps with this, or of any changes you may need to make to your account for us to proceed further, and if you need any help with completing your application or have any questions regarding the process, please do feel free to get in touch and we will be happy to help!
