Students can no longer request a free video chat from your Tutorful profile. However, the feature is still available if you choose to arrange one before teaching a new student.
In most cases, we recommend teaching the student's first booked lesson rather than replacing it with a free video chat, as this keeps the booking process and the student's experience more streamlined. You can use messages to get to know the student and discuss any additional requirements before the lesson.
How do I book a free video chat?
If you've agreed with a student that you'd like to have a free video chat before teaching them, you can book one from your conversation with the student, provided you haven't yet taught them a paid lesson.
From your messages with the student, select "Book" in the top-right corner. Enter the agreed date and time, then select "Book Chat".
Once booked, the free video chat will appear in your "Upcoming Lessons". Free video chats last around 15 minutes and take place in Tutorful's online classroom.
I've already received a lesson booking. Can I offer a free video chat instead?
Yes, but we recommend teaching the student's booked lesson wherever possible.
If you and your student agree that a free video chat is needed first, you'll need to cancel the lesson booking before arranging the chat. The student can then book a paid lesson afterwards if they wish to continue.
