As a tutor with Tutorful, you are in charge of managing your own business. We may offer suggestions and guidelines, but the decision rests with you regarding what you want your hourly rate to be.
You can change your hourly rate at any time by heading to your profile in editor mode, and this will bring up a form which will take you through how your new rate will fit in with the service fee:
We do recommend that you honour your previous hourly rate with your current students, as they would have contacted you with this in mind and may not be willing to pay your new rate for lessons. You can change the rate you charge for lessons by manually inputting this on the booking form.
If you'd like to change your rate for a single student without changing the rate on your profile (to add an additional charge for multiple students, to offer a discount to a specific student if necessary or to honour a previous hourly rate for an existing student for example) then you can do this on the booking form.
When you book in a lesson, there is a box to fill in for your rate:
If you leave the box unfilled then the lesson will be automatically charged at the hourly rate on your profile. If you would like to charge a different hourly rate, then you can simply write the rate in the box and the lesson cost will be calculated from this depending on the duration of the lesson.
You're now also able to set different prices for in-person and online lessons, as we do understand that there are additional costs associated particularly with teaching in-person lessons! Do be aware that in order to set split prices, you must have 'in-person + online' selected in your teaching preferences. You can read more about this here.
Using our Tutorful app, you can head to the more section in the bottom bar and then hourly rate - you'll then be able to set your hourly rate for both in-person and online lessons!
You can also update your teaching preferences on the website by logging into your account, and then heading to the profile section. You’ll then just need to click on the edit button next to Rate’, where you’ll be able to set your desired prices.
